You are cordially invited to join our seminar bringing together leading scholars from the United Kingdom and Germany for a conversation exploring The Intercultural Zeitgeist in London, 1780-1832.

Hosted by the Institute of Modern Languages Research in the School of Advanced Study, University of London, on 11 December 2019, this one-day seminar brings together leading scholars in Anglo-German studies, Romanticism, and the History of the Book, for a conversation exploring the intercultural Zeitgeist in London during the eighteenth and nineteenth century. As the centre of an emerging global Empire, London facilitated many intercultural exchanges of science, politics, art, literature, music, trade, theology, and technology, circulating through a multifarious array of institutions, societies, circles, libraries, bookshops, methods, translations, and networks, to name a few.

The colloquium will conclude with a roundtable discussion.
